Soviet Camera Exhibition:
History of the
Soviet Photographic industry 1930-1992
Kiev Street Fashions |
The main Soviet factories all got involved with the stereo bug at one time or
another. KMZ produced stereo Kits for the Zorki-C & the Zenit E, Lomo produced
the 6x6 stereo Sputnik, Arsenal made a stereo adapter for the Kiev 2 and Fed had
a stereo lens for the Fed 2 and the 35mm Fed 'Stereo'
Zenit E with stereo adapter. The
kit came complete with viewer for stereo transparencies.

Astra KMZ stereo compact
camera design.

Zorki 2 with stereo

Shown here on the Zorki C this
stereo adapter, similar to the Arsenal product, has its own base which screws
onto the camera.
complete kit for Zorki
Kiev 2a with stereo adapter
modelled on the Carl Zeiss variant. I've made some superb stereo slides using
this setup with the standard Jupiter 8 lens.

For both the Kiev and the Zorki variants I use the 85mm viewer and rotate the
front window from horizontal to vertical. The framing seems to be spot on.
The Sputnik is a Bakelite stereo
camera utilising many of the parts of the Lubitel. It's rare to find these
cameras now as they are so fragile. If you drop a Sputnik it will literally
explode, leaving you with a scattering of splinters and some assorted metal and
glass parts. Came complete with viewing frame and adjustable viewing lenses.
